Little League is currently going to vote on changing the birthdate for eligibility from April 30th of each year to December 31st of each year at this years Little League International Congress meeting on April 4th through the 7th. It is item 2 of the agenda. It reads:

"Item 2 – Affects Regulation IV(a) – The Players – All Divisions of Baseball and Challenger

(a) Little League (Majors) Division: Any candidate who will attain the age of 9 years on or before December 31 and who will not attain the age of 13 on or before December 31 of the year in question shall be eligible to compete in Little League Baseball (subject to the local league board of directors alignment of this division). This means that a child who will be 12 years old on December 31 or earlier, is eligible to play that year; a child who will be 13 years old on December 31 or earlier will not be eligible for either local league play or tournament play at any time during the calendar year in question"

The only exception is "A child who is league age 13, and who was born May 2002 – December 2002 is eligible for the Major Division in 2015."

This is bad for every child in Little League, not born between May 2002-December 2002, as they will lose a year of eligibility. If your child was born after the current date of April 30th and this change is voted in your child will be 2 years older according to Little League. Example, if your child is a League age 10 in 2014 and is born on August 30th then in 2015 he/she will be a League age 12. Your child will be competing with other children in the league that may be 20 months older.

We have to stop this vote from happening or have it voted down. Please sign this petition to let the Little League Administrators know that you do not want your child to have a year of Little League stripped from them just to conform to other association’s standards. If they want to pass this rule there is a way to implement it without negatively impacting the players that have been working towards something special.

Sign this petition to have the 2014 Little League International Congress vote “no” or for them to grandfather all current players League age 8 and above.
