Little league is currently punishing kids for their grade level and it is wrong. Currently league rules make it okay for 11 yr old 5th graders to play but not 11 yr old 6th graders. My daughter, Nevaeh, is an 11 yr old 6th grader. She was kicked out of the league because she started kindergarten at age 4. I am starting this petition to hopefully bring change and keep kids from being punished for their grade level. I plan to send this petition to all sports directors in the league and demand change. Let Nevaeh play as well as all children left behind due to the league's backward rule.

I am honestly a bit overwhelmed by the response to this issue. It is clear that so many of you care about fairness for our local kids and this momentum belongs entirely to your kindness.

I wish we had that age in little league. But with the cut off age and the fact that 6th grade is middle school we don’t have that age because they are playing middle school. I do know that the OakRidge league goes up to high school age for kids not on the school team also Claxton league has the same. I hate it for miss Nevah she is such a great kid and plays with all her heart. I was sad when I heard what happened.
We just moved to morgan county and the middle school does try outs at the end of the year. I agree that 6th graders should play middle school ball IF they are ready. Some kids arent ready by 6th grade. If they are not ready or unable to play due to moving as in our situation, if she is the same age as other kids playing why cant she?! Its unfair. Even if this petition doesnt change anything, i strongly believe that exceptions should be made for kids like this.
Let her play this is crazy. I graduated at 17 this could have happen to me. Yikes. The kid wants to play sports not do drugs
You should not punish a child for their grade level and how well they do in school you should be proud and want them on your team to work hard as they do in school
A little girl wants to play basketball, and instead she's punished for being smart. Ridiculous!!

i support nevaeh!! as a mother of two children who play sports it upsets me because i know this wonderful child key word CHILD.
