Labour have unanimously voted to put The Butts onto their Asset Management Strategy list, meaning that developers can now approach the council with a view to buying the land. We have opposed the sale of Newcastle's green spaces at every level and will continue to fight against these plans.
The Butts is a beautiful area with established trees and wildlife and is an important historical area to our community. Please sign this petition to send a message to the Labour Council - our green spaces are not surplus to requirement or expendable. We do not want our planning merged with Stoke-on-Trent's and Newcastle should not have to sacrifice its green spaces because of the failures of Stoke-on-Trent's council.
