Statement of Purpose:

PETITION TO STOP HOME HEALTH CARE THERAPY SERVICES DURING PANDEMIC OF CORONA IN MICHIGAN.

Home Health therapy services ( PT, OT ) can easily be delayed/postponed service during pandemic of corona virus in Michigan.

  • Risk factor: Carrier or Victim

Potential risk to be carrier or victim for corona virus from one patient to another.

Therapy services can be easily delayed or postponed without much damage to patients or patient care under the current pandemic of corona virus.

  • Added Risk to Community & Seniors Citizen.

Therapist themselves and their families are at risk along with seniors citizen, which can be easily avoided. And there are patients and families, those are not comfortable to have therapist in their home, but an added risk to all of them.

Therapy visit VS Virtual visit: Therapy services required physical presence with physical touch and cannot be performed virtual visit like Physician and home care nurses are allowed for virtual visit from their offices.

  • Current pandemic environment: Supporting Facts:
  • Business Phenomena:

We, home care therapists are more at risk than professionals providing services in the hospital. Clinicians in the hospital are more equipped and have more control over the environment than therapist ( PT, OT) working in home care setting. They are more exposed to the environment, more people in patients’ home due to school and other offices closing and non-screened patients.

Best ethical choices for community:

The relevant ethical principles in pandemic planning can help enhance voluntary cooperation based upon public trust, and reduce the undesirable outcomes of public health.

Home Health Agencies continue enforcing therapist to conduct therapy visit with ZERO Interest to be consider as “sufficiently appropriate” EQUIP must require under pandemic of corona virus, may cause undesirable outcomes of public health in the community.
