The club officially reversed the ban and fishing is permitted once again. I am still processing this result after months of fighting for our access to the water. Keep an eye on the shoreline because we will be watching to ensure this decision remains permanent.

I have been spending my days talking to people who use these waters and the frustration is palpable among everyone I meet. We are currently preparing to present our case to the club board because this shoreline belongs to all of us. Please keep checking the page for updates on what they tell us.

We are approaching the 500 signature mark and I need you to help us cross that line before the board meets. My childhood on these waters depends on us hitting this goal to show the club how many people refuse to lose our local fishing access.

I love in London now, but from Pompey, I fished all over Hayling Island when I was a kid. Learnt my beach fishing skills there and Eastney. To curtail others from fishing from the beach is outrageous and they should be ashamed of themselves

Seaking to ban a single recreational activity due to desire rather tahn seeking to manage conflict or issue areas without consultation or discussion is secular and selfish. compramise and conflict managment can always be tesolved through basic comunication.

Fished this excellent mark many times, while staying in the area without problem, hope your petition gets great support to stop these illegal signs, and the yacht club trying to stop public beach access. Davey Milne. Whitley Bay Angling Society

I take clients to this stretch for reliable fishing during the summer months. I fish below the high water mark and as such am not fishing on lands owned by the sailing club. Should this go through, there will be legal repercussions.

Beaches are for everyone to enjoy, to do what people have done for 100s of years, no one should be able to put up notices to prohibit these things. I used to live in the area & visit regularly, stop these people before everyone starts to claim a beach for themselves.
