Live Fish are being handed out like teddy bears at fun fairs. These beautiful animals are being mistreated and abused for the glory of a unique prize. This is wrong and disgusting, stop the support.
Please sign this petition it might not change your life but it definitely changes the life of others.
Reaching this point has been exhausting but seeing the support grow gives me the resolve to keep going. I am tired of seeing these animals treated like garbage at fairgrounds. We are not stopping until this cruelty ends.

Absolutely disgraceful behaviour, fish are not 'prizes' but are living beings. This behavior would be condemned if it was dogs and cats, but because its 'inexpensive' goldfish no one seems to care. Really disappointed that this is still going on.

Goldfish, and any other animal, be the aquatic or not, should never be handled as these animals have been. It is fundamentally wrong, on every level. No animal should be handed out so casually either, as a single goldfish needs at least ten litres and an established aquarium to survive and live a happy and healthy life. A child who wins a fish at a fair is hardly going to be able to deal with or even understand the needs of these beautiful creatures.

If it is made illegal, it will just stop. It is unnecessary cruelty to give a living thing to a child/family who does not know how to look after it

Disgusting practice, all the poor fish end up suffocating and flushed down the toilet

My first encounter of these poor fish was down the street in Cork. What looked to be a 13 year old girl was swinging around a goldfish in a plastic travel container with maybe 2" of water in it. That fish will be dead within the week because of the small amount of water and the lack of filtration. Not only is that in humane to the fish, but it's a sure way to teach your 7 year old about death early on. Fish need to be kept in a tank, with a filtration system. A small plastic transport carrier is not sufficient for any animal to live in. Please do not accept goldfish or any other animal as a prize. Stick to the stuffed animals.

I am so sad to see live animals handed out as prizes. Whats even worse is these fish are dying within days, probably due to shock as it is extremely stressful to go through something like this. Keep teddys as prizes. Leave fish in the ocean as we exploit them enough as it is.

Totally devoid of any empathy. Only a psycho could think this is OK
