So to clarify a bit, some high school coaches came up with the idea of "genderbend day" as a day where people "Dress like the opposite gender". What about nonbinary people? What about trans people who feel so uncomfortable dressing like the opposite gender that they have panic attacks about it? What about closeted trans people? Clothing should have nothing to do with gender.

I hate this day because what if you aren't a boy or a girl? Do you just not exist?

Genderbend day is sexist, enforces gender stereotypes, enforces the concept of only 2 genders which is stupid and excludes a ton of people, and would trigger a lot gender dysphoria, I would imagine, in transgender people (I'm not trans so I cant speak for that group of people, but I can imagine that this would be offensive at best and emotionally traumatizing at worst for them). Also, a lot of boys showed up to school in extremely sexist or even sexual "girls clothes" and they NEVER got dress coded for it. If a female identifying student did that, she could get suspended. There are laws against school dress codes being gender-specific, and the school is breaking the actual hecking law by letting this slide. Clothes have no gender and letting something like this happen is shocking, coming from the school with a rainbow allyence club and lessons about social justice. Genderbend day is sexist, transphobic, and painfully steriotypical. It NEEDS to stop. They should- no, they NEED TO take it out of school spirit week for ALL schools.

Why is this still happening? Shouldn't people just dress how they want? UGH, transphobes are annoying.
