This petition is to stop government cutting funding for youth services, now in a short statement I will explain.

youth services are important to our children, they provide a safe environment for youth to socialise, grow and learn. They help children with any issues they may be having, giving them the opportunity to talk about them, work through them or even just forget about them for a little while. They give children the opportunity to interact with each other and help with integrating and socialising within the community. The government are making cuts within this sector and the 1st to be cut would be funding for youth services. Our children should have the right to these services, to be able to have a place that is safe to go to socialise. The result would possibly mean kids having no place to go leading to increased youth on the streets, with no guidance this often results in children getting into unnecessary danger or trouble.

So by signing this petition you are stating you do not want the government to cut the funding for our youth services within the uk.

I attended Whitehorse manor youth centre in Croydon as a child. I then followed a career in youth work by first volunteering at Whitehorse, which then led me to be a part time youth worker at parchmore, waddon, Norbury and also being lent out to goldcrest in New Addington. I also did the summer scheme at Whitehorse for 2 weeks in the summer with young people with special needs. Many of my friends are still youth workers and have to find a job in different boroughs. There is so much knife crime in Croydon, due to the fact all youth centres have been closed down due to funding. The government need to re-evaluate this, as youth workers we would do outreach and get the young people off the streets and in parks and into the youth centre, where not only were they in a safe environment, but also being educated via workshops. Something needs to change and fast!

Young people need this, England needs this. I had the previlege of meeting and sharing in the lifes of hundreds of young people who have developed into stong, confident resilient adults that England can be proud of. Don't deny your children access to good quality tax-payer funded youth services
