Attention fellow citizens of Douglas County, OREGON...The Landfill Fee Ordinance Passed. (Fee to be determined during future meetings).
PLEASE SIGN the PETITION to STOP the Imposition of these FEES after reading the info below!
The Illegal Dumping is Out of Control right now in our Beautiful Woodland/Forest & Park areas and it will get WORSE with Imposed Fees! If The Commissioners and other Elected Officials took a Pay Cut, maybe Fee's won't have to be imposed.
All three Commissioners as well as everyone else in the
room at the time of the last meeting (4/15) had AGREED the Illegal Dumping Would Get Much Worse After the fees are imposed! (County Commissioners are blaming the Last 30 Years of poor planning and a lose of revenue, all on
the federal and state governments).
The LACK
of accountability for Our Counties Budget is appalling! Our actual "taxpayer" $$ (property taxes, fuel, etc) don't do squat, and were shown as 50% of the County Sheriffs current yearly budget. (The sad thing is those charts can
be drawn up a thousand different ways depending on how they want to
tell the story). Unfortunately,
money is the driver of our Entire Society.

If enough people are burned by this decision, Douglas County won't NEED term limits. The next election will take care of it.
Being an out door's man . I'm finding more and more trash every outing. Some people just don't care. my Wife and I picked up eleven bag's of trash and two tires that the land fill made me pay to have dumped and now you would like me to pay for the trash to. No thank you next time I will take pictures and you can pic it up. like that would ever happen.
I wonder if the ones who came up with this choice have trash pick up or if they have to use the landfill. If we have to pay to dump then shouldn't we all be offered pick up. I do not agree with charging us to keep not only our homes and yards clean but our county as well.
if you charge a fee then the people who take their trash to the dump are just going to find other places to dump it. I think it does more harm than good to charge that fee. the streets and woods will probably just be filled with litter from people dumping their garbage there instead of paying to use the dump.
If you stop wasting the money in the first place, maybe more people would be willing to pay to take their trash to the dump.

I already have to travel 15 miles to the dump and only dump about once a month. There are already tv sets dumped in the ditches on my way home on Coos Bay Wagon Road. We do not have other alternatives (like garbage pickup). People are burning sofas and dumping appliances along the road and in the canyons already.
If enough people are burned by this decision, Douglas County won't NEED term limits. The next election will take care of it.
