Please stop the implementation of Common Core in Tennessee. The curriculum does nothing but dumb down our students. We need to return the control of education back to the state and local level and get the federal government out of our business.

This is the educational equivalent of wealth redistribution. There is more retention of specific information ( for the testing period) and less development of the thinking and creative process (long term).

If you just take the time to look at the information in any of these books you won't have to ask what we have against them. You obviously did not research this material. I know that your time is limited but please take the time for the future of TN children, for America in general to look at this information. Some of the reading is pornographic in nature. Words are spelled incorrectly even at that. The math is taken from a simple basic 3 step math problem to a 125 step problem and no step can be left out and you get the same answer however if you leave out one step it is counted wrong. Does that make sense to you? It is dumbing down our children. Please stop this idiocy before it is too late. Our children deserve better.

Without exception, every teacher I've spoken to is concerned about this program. It is creating detrimental stress on both students and teachers. The focus should be on engaging our children in the learning process, not on multiple tests each week which detract from quality teaching time. Teachers must be so concerned about test scores, they cannot effectively teach. We are losing quality teachers every day who are so stressed by the threat of losing their job, they do not feel they can continue in their chosen profession.

When I was first told about this program, it was by the school and teachers. It sounded fine and I was led to believe that this was a Tennessee program. Thankfully, a friend got wind of what was really going on and the more I learn, the more I know it has to stop!
