Stop Common Core in Tennessee

2,177 Signatures Goal: 10,000

As a citizen and taxpayer of the State of Tennessee, I petition the Governor, the State Board of Education, the State School Superintendent, and the Tennessee General Assembly to take every action necessary to rescind the state’s participation in Race to the Top, the Common Core State Standards Initiative, any agreement to share student data with the federal government or any other governmental or private entity, any national-testing consortium, and any scheme (such as No Child Left Behind waivers) that requires such participation. Tennessee’s citizens, who pay approximately $8 billion annually in state and local taxes for education, have the constitutional right to exercise 100 percent control over the content standards in our public schools through our duly elected representatives in the Tennessee Senate and the Tennessee House.

Be sure to watch this:
Gov Haslam on Common Core
He states "Common Core has been proven to work."
Really?  Where?  Since they are so obsessed with data, "Show us the Data." It doesn't exist. Common Core was never piloted or tested. Anywhere.

1/14/2014 ACTION ITEM NOW! CALL YOUR LEGISLATOR! Go here to find your legislator: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/legislators/ #StopCommonCore Tuesday is the first day of the new Legislative Session. Let's show them we are serious about getting rid of Common Core. Call your State Representative and Senators, asking them to please support bills to get rid of Common Core. If they are against Common Core, thank them for their support. After contacting them, please send us a message and let us know what their responses were. This will help us later when bills come to a vote (if they get that far), on where to concentrate our efforts. It is VERY IMPORTANT for you to get involved in this fight. Big Business/Big Money/Big Government is fighting us all the way. Involved citizens are the only way we will win this fight. Please Share! We need you to call!

My child is not learning the basics nor is a foundation being set for him to use going forward in his educational journey. I am frustrated one I cannot help him with work he brings home and two when I ask for help from the school system they blame my child for not performing to their standards.

This is an utterly ridiculous and useless method. I cannot help my child with his homework because I was not taught common core math! Bring back traditional math to our schools!!!!!!!
