GET. RID. OF. COMMON. CORE.

The purpose of educating children is suppose to be for the purpose of equipping them with the mental and physical tools they will need for life in the real world work place and society. Common Core undermines this fundamental principle. Our education 200 yrs ago stopped at a younger age and left the young people far more intelligent. Research the content of this stuff yourself. Read the list of literature requirements for the high schoolers. Not only do they remove the classical books, but the content in the common core required reading is indecent, crude and altogether inferior altogether. The Math is absurd! I don't see how any intelligent person can't see how damaging that is to children...and how it will ruin a whole generation. The science and history is full of distortions and agendas. Keep the education of the children filled with knowledge and learning, and eliminate this experimental project from our schools.

STOP COMMON CORE

We need to stop the social agenda and get to the basics of education. Common Core does not solve any of the current problems. Just creates more that wont be possible to fix. Start with the craziness that math is not absolute anymore. Please if you are involved, research, read and do your best to stop this nonsense. We will be responsible of the next generations future. God has mercy on us.

Common Core is a tragic mistake that is causing more work for teachers and kids while doing nothing to provide a better education. We have ceased to give our kids an education but instead are teaching them to simply pass tests that hold no real value. Teachers are communicating less valuable education with more paperwork and ability to teach kids to their learning styles. Our school systems continue to suffer from the choices made by non-educators that could not even pass the tests these elementary school age children are expected to pass!

We do not need Common Core or Race to the Top in Tennessee school systems.

We need government out of education and return to teaching the basics in grades k-3. When those skills are mastered higher level thinking is possible.

Race To the Top, including Common Core, is a slow take over of our education system, eventually leading to the general public actually being LESS educated. Some of the standards are just ridiculous. The implementation of CC has basically taken the "individual child" out of the picture, leaving no room for creativity, self expression, or even enough time during class for them to think and come to conclusions on their own. I am making plans to remove my children from the public school system and have no plans to send them back to public school unless the entire RTTT program is removed. I know of many others who have already taken their children out or are making plans to do so. This is a disgrace and not beneficial to the future of America! The Health standards that are on the horizon are sickening!

I think Common Core is the worst thing to happen to this generation. Instead of pushing our children to strive to do more we are dumbing down their education so they don't feel bad when they actually don't grasp a concept. We need parents and teachers to stand up and fight for our children.

Common core is federal government takeover of our schools.

My second grader has gone from loving school to, now, hating school thanks to the destructive nature of Common Core. We are actively fighting it in the classroom!

My son is a great student and has always made excellent grades. His confidence and grades have went down drastically since common core has been mandatory. This is really hurting our kids and I want it stopped. Thank you

My children will not return to public school as long as TN is involved with RTTT and Common Core.

I feel Common Core is an extremely poor idea. You cannot teach and test the same to every kid in the US. There are way to many variables. It will also cause those who are trying to achieve higher learning to be forced to settle for mediocracy. Every child is different and learns differently. Why not do more Montosorry type schools?

No evidence that Common Core works, too much testing on children.

My personal experiences with the changes that have come with Common Core so far: my children are experiencing more teachers who want them to "figure it out on their own" because they will learn it better; my daughter doing math and then answering questions about how she "felt" about the exercise; teachers telling me that even though they have 15% of curriculum they can dictate, they have NO EXTRA time to do this due to core "standards". Standards are directly related to "curriculum" and to pretend it isn't human nature to move toward a standard curriculum is to bury your head in the sand.
