I don't think Common Core is the answer to our country's educational problems. Education is not "one size fits all".

Education is not something that is constrained to a box that we call school. Nor is it constrained to one type of learning. No, education occurs when a child (and his teacher) are given the freedom to move beyond some set of standards that a think tank in Washington as determined was what everyone needed. If the goal of this nation is to produce a generation of clones who all think one way, talk one way, learn one way and work one way, then Common Core is the key. However, if our nation is looking for a generation of INDIVIDUALS who will think outside the box and create a world filled with limitless possibilities, not only in the workforce but in other fields like engineering, government, and medicine, then throwing Common Core to the curb is the smart and the brave thing to do. We are training the next generation today. Let's give them a bright future and teach them that learning is not just for scoring well on tests--it is about discovering more about who they are through the lense of knowledge. Say NO to Common Core! Give our schools back to the people who know these kids best--their parents and teachers.

Why would we want to have Federally mandated learning objectives?

Fact memorization is not the same as learning. What happens to the child when they get out of school and are forced to find answers on their own? Will they know how?

The push for common core standards are unreal! The pressure it is putting on my kids teachers is awful, then imagine how the kids are feeling. There is not any fun in learning anymore. My son is miserable!

Please stand against Common Core. I believe it is detrimental to providing a thorough, creative and comprehensive education for our children. It is imperative to raise intelligent, thinking generations of children. Without such upcoming generations, we become ignorant, apathetic, sheep easily manipulated, deceived and destroyed.

I have watched my 8 year old daughter go from all A's and loving school to no longer have that love for learning and making some c's.!! All because of this common core, They took the joy out of learning!

Common Core is a real issue. My son who is in 7th grade spent 2 1/2 hours today on a Common Core Test. The test had 4 questions, of which he was only able to complete 1 question. Here is the interesting fact. My son can give the correct answer, his brain does not allow him to show the "process", some will say he is a genius. Common Core will mark him as unacceptable to the standard. What about the effects "emotionally" of having to deal with sitting with the stress on not knowing what to do during this testing. Thank you for making my child feel dumb. This is not acceptable, we need to stand up and take a stand for our children. They deserve much better than "standard", we all solve problems and think through the "process" differently. As a side note I have told my son to right the correct answer, skip the process that he is unable to do and move on. He is truly gifted and a wonderful boy. Very frustrated Parent!!!
