I'm alarmed by the changes that have been made to the school curriculum for my children (6th grade and 3rd grade) to accommodate the Common Core standards.

Get this indoctrinating program out of Tennessee ASAP, before our children start suffering the damage!! Let the teachers go back to being teachers, not robots.

As a teacher in higher education seeing the result of over a decade of students who have learned to regurgitate information onto multiple choice tests, I implore a change so that my children can learn critical thinking and problem solving. Even my smartest students can't make informed decisions based on their research findings. They have been programmed to memorize key points for their grades. Let's teach the next generation to intelligently articulate its opinions, not benchmark them on bubbling in a,b,c, or d on a scantron sheet.

This is a terrible program that has a lot of misleading information about the USA and Christians, in short history is being rewritten. This program will only dumb our children down not lift them up.

Not in favor of a top down federally mandated program. Leave education strictly up to the states and local municipalities. The Federal Dept of Education should be abolished.

This is NOT how I want the curriculum I want taught to my children. I have 3 young children and only the 1st in elementary school at this point. Please regect common core. The testing and focus on limited subjects is limiting the creativity that should be school. We want our children to grow in knowledge and love to learn. If we push it on them this way they will quickly reject school. Our country will see more drop outs than previous years.

Common core curriculum is not effective. Instead of being worried about whether their students are learning, the teachers are supposed to be more concerned with whether they have covered the requirements of that day. Administrators say it prepares people for the ACT and college, but as a college student, it's just not true.

I see first hand the harm being done to our youngest learners. Out of the 135 writers of the Common Core, there was zero representation for the primary grades. Decades of research in early childhood development was ignored.

STOP .... STOP....STOP THIS COMMONC CORE PROGRAM in our schools! It is highly disdiscriminatory against children who struggle and some content is offensive and NOT age appropriate. Sad!! Get rid of this...please!!

The control of what is taught in our schools needs to be decided by the State not the Federal government. It needs to be a curriculum designed by teachers and educators who have training and experience with children. The children are not lab rats.

Don't add stress to the learning process with Common Core. Get the federal government out of education. The public education system is a failure. High school graduates are unprepared for college and must take remedial classes to catch up. This is inexcusable.

COMMON CORE IS NOT GOOD, IT DOES NOT GIVE A CHILD A CHANCE TO EXCELL , CHILDREN ARE NOT ALL THE SAME!!!! SOME CHILDREN NEED EXTRA HELP. I WORKED WITH SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN FOR 13 YEARS & SOME CHILDREN JUST CANNOT KEEP UP NO MATTER HOW THEY TRY!! NOT ALL CHILDREN ARE GOOD FOR COLLEGE, AND SOME WILL BE GREAT FOR COLLEGE. BUT I FEAR FOR THE WAY THE CHILDREN ARE BEING CHANGED, IT IS ALL ABOUT INDOCTRINATING THESE CHILDREN TO BE ALL THE SAME, AND NOT LETTING THEM THINK FOR THEMSELVES!!! GOD HELP US TO GET BACK TO WHERE WE NEED TO BE!!!

Please repeal the common core standards along with the Race to The Top that is causing too much testing!! My children who once loved school are growing to dread it. I am hearing from more & more parents who are wondering why their kids are crying to stay home from school, having anxiety issues (throwing up, etc). And one of my children came home in tears after sitting for a THREE HOUR TEST!! This is simply not acceptable. And the Common Core curriculum I am witnessing is not developmentally appropriate, nor is it a “step-up”. In fact it lowers the standards we had previously. And they love to say it has “Rigor”. Rigor by definition is a horrible way to describe what education should be. Rigor means: Cruel, non-forgiving,rigid, unforgiving, severity of life, adversity, hardness… is this what we want for our children? Thank you for listening. If you want to be a leader tomorrow, then be a leader TODAY!! Megan
