Common Core standards are developmentally inappropriate at every level. If the standards are inappropriate, so too will be the PARCC tests. If we proceed with these we will be setting our children back for years to come.

Common core dumbs our kids down, teaches them things that are against our ethics, & are Socialist teachings. We want the children of Tennessee to be intelligent, creative, free thinking people. Destroy Common Core or you will destroy Tennessee!

Adopting the Common Core was a condition for receiving Race to the Top money from the federal Dept of Education and in NCLB waivers. Common Core was not developed by educators and has no research base. Millions of dollars have been spent marketing CC. When did education curricula standards bypass academic review and paretn involvement? When private foundations, profiteers and hedge fund mangers decided that our students' academic competencies are the 21st century commodities. Stop the Common Core in TN.

I believe common core is harmful to the education of our children and want it ejected from our state. Kids learn in many different ways and at their own pace. Common core will only push our children further down the educational hole this country is in.

We must stop this abhorrent mess and let our teachers teach again. They know our children and can be trusted to evaluate them without unnecessary and inappropriate standardized tests that occur on a weekly basis. Plus all the data mining that goes with this is clearly violates our constitutional rights.

The kids are going to suffer from this in the long run. It is horrible to watch some of them cry in class because they don't understand second grade word problems that are technically fourth and fifth grade word problems. We need to teach them the basic math lessons that I learned growing up. Number lines and explaining everything they do does nothing but confuse them! Showing them ten different ways to work a problem is ridiculous! My child is 8 and needs to learn one simple way to add and subtract. I taught her the original way and she learned in a few minutes, she comes home confused trying to use a number line to solve a problem. I also think common core takes away from teachers being creative. Who wants a guide on how to teach every day? I learned best from teachers that went the extra mile and taught things in a creative manner. I wouldn't want someone dictating how I taught. Every child is different and learns at a different pace and needs different guidance. A daily manual gives teachers no room to help different levels of learning.

Stop the Common Core. It is only the governments method of brain washing our children so they are easily influence by the libreal ideas of our country's laws, procedures, and beliefs.

I am a former teacher and can see great problems with Common Core. The biggest problem is that it is pushed by the federal government, which has shown no success in implementing programs. Local control is the answer. The Dept. of Education was created almost 35 years ago and has had no positive impact on education, but has cost billions.

Please stop common core. Allow our teachers to teach appropriately and let our children learn appropriately.

How can our children be creative and inventive if they are not exposed to the classics of literature and the basics of mathematics in a manner which leads to higher thinking? This is truly the dumbing down of America.

Please take strong and decisive action to prevent Common Core and the associated federal programs out of TN schools. Thank you, Dr. R. A. Reed

This has not been vetted and our children are going to suffer as a result. Indoctrination and over testing of our kids. Stop this now.

The federal government has not proven successfully they can manage other departments, i.e..IRS, Social Security, Balancing the Budget or even creating a budget, Military, etc....so why would we want to hand over our children's education to them. Education should be a controlled and standards set at the local level.

This is a travesty that we are even having this discussion. There are so many things wrong with this core curriculum. What are we doing to our children?? I am so thankful I am blessed to send my daughters to a private, classical education christian school. But my heart goes out to all who do not have that option and are having to deal with this monstrosity.
