As a citizen and taxpayer of the State of Tennessee, I petition the Governor, the State Board of Education, the State School Superintendent, and the Tennessee General Assembly to take every action necessary to rescind the state’s participation in Race to the Top, the Common Core State Standards Initiative, any agreement to share student data with the federal government or any other governmental or private entity, any national-testing consortium, and any scheme (such as No Child Left Behind waivers) that requires such participation.

Education should be handled in the local communities and not by any federal government. This standard of education in Tennessee will definitely lower the standards for a majority of our children. I think it should be stopped and given back to the parents and teachers in our communities.

The TN Dept. of Education and State Legislatures actions to sell out their citizen's sovereign interest in return for being let of the hook for not delivering against their contracted No Child Left Behind commitments is shameful. How many more times will TN's education elite be allowed (by the state legislature) to foist the next greatest unproven idea onto the school children of Tennessee without suffering any consequences?
