Government needs to stop using our children as guinea pigs and stay out of our schools.... no evidence that CC works...

I believe Common Core is an insidious way for the federal government to gain control in our schools. My grandchildren no longer bring their books home from school; only worksheets come home for homework, so they have nothing as a source of reference. I also believe Bill Gates' "philanthropy" in giving hundreds of millions of dollars to Common Core is no more than a way to gain a complete and total monopoly on the computer systems used in school systems throughout the nation, since all testing for Common Core is computerized, and on the software is all PC based. Moreover, those who established the standards were not educators, nor were they even trained in the subjects for the standards they helped to write in most cases. Considering all these factors together (just for starters), I don't see how anybody can think Common Core is good for our students.

Time to start teaching our kids real math and stop with the drawing shapes to then add or substract. Crazy!

STOP COMMON CORE NOW! Stop all of the testing that doesn't prove anything and return our schools to the states and people of Tennessee. Get the Federal Government OUT of our education system!

My child has started having anxiety over school and tests and the pressure put on her by the school and teachers. She spends 3 + hours doing homework every night. She is 9 years old and has full blown panic attacks and stomach aches due to anxiety on a regular basis. I'm not asking to stop challenging her, but certainly asking for the school system to stop putting unnecessary pressure on teachers and students. It's unreal. Our school is top 10 in the state, but I think we should find different ways of achieving this.

My child loved math until this year. Now it's ridiculous when I can't even understand it enough to help him do his 4th grade math homework and I have a college education.

My 8th grader has always carried a B or C in Math. It's not her best subject. This year her grade has plummeted to an F. She stays after school to retake a test she never understood in the first place. She has to fill out a form to request the retest. Before Christmas, she stayed after to retest along with 30+ kids. That's LOT of kids retaking one test! These kids aren't dummies. Save our kids!!!!

It's sad that our kids are going through this crap! Would you have liked it starting in kindergarten? Probably not!

Concerned about massive centralized federal control of state and community education and privacy issues of many that are being ostracized by this presidential administration...

Say "no" to the federal government take over of our education system. Say "yes" to parental rights and local level decision making!
