There should be no compromise on Common Core. Needs to be totally eliminated along with the Dept. of Education and the Board of Regents. Get politics out of our childrens schools.

Absolutely unnecessary testing! My 8 year old,2nd grader is bringing at least an hours worth of homework and that's if I actually know what the answer is! END COMMON CORE NOW! The homework is ridiculous after spending 8 hours at school,she has homework and supper and time for nothing else! I'm to the point of homeschooling!!! This is bull!!!!!!

This is completely wrong! My children can not positively respond to the negativity this program brings. If this does not change i will quite my job and home school my children.

What a bunch of hooey! Just researching how common core wants children to answer math questions has dumbed me down! I cannot believe that there are people out there that back this way of teaching and think that it is a way to get our children "college ready"! Get this nonsense OUT of our schools before it's too late! My favorite math teachers were the ones that knew how to SIMPLIFY the math, not the ones that added 100 more steps to get to a simple answer. Many of those "short cuts" I use on a daily basis.

My son is 13 years old and has had his education jeopardized by the no child lift behind and now common core. I am deeply concerned because it seems that government agencies are more concerned with experimenting on my child than educating him. Common core, especially for math requires a different set of critical thinking skills that sadly, my son did not acquire during his time in elementary or middle school. This is the worst math year for him and we are considering a private school to escape from the common core. WE DO NOT WANT COMMON CORE

My son use to love math but now struggles with homework. I don't have time go online and teach myself how to do the math so I can help my son. As the teacher suggested, there are several links I can go to help me with the math problems, No Thank You!! My 8th grader is not ready to understand college level work. They need to go back to the basics.

Not every one needs to go to college. This program hurts rather than helps the true education of children. True education prepares children to be productive, be good citizens, and to contribute to the good of society. Forcing students to be all on the same level is cruel to the ones that are not capable doing the same work at the same rate as average, and above average student. We are NOT all the same and should not be expected to preform the same. Learning a trade is no less noble than getting a college degree.

three words. . .not a fan. the amount of time spent on homework and the level of anxiety about tests is ridiculously inappropriate for an 11year old.I only have one child. . .my girlfriend has three.do yo know how long it takes for homework to get done at her house? HOURS.after she helps all three they are all cranky and exhausted with no time left in the day for anything else. just awful.
