We won't create a labor market trained to work in science, technology and mathematics if we teach our kids to hate math in elementary school. The damage has already been done in my house.
Show some leadership Governor Cuomo and stop this nonsense until the teachers are properly trained with textbooks that are understandable to those of us without PHDs in math.

My daughter hates math because of the way in which it's taught, and i find the worksheets incredibly difficult to follow. I'm an attorney and can't understand half of the directions!

Common core is making our kids dislike school. You can not take kids that have been taught one way their entire school history and switch them to something that won't work, something that will make them less competitive in the real world. They tried it in the late 60's with the metric system after a few years they put us back to regular math. We lost all that time learning the foundations of math, now I struggle with math to this day. STOP COMMON CORE it is a DISASTER for our kids.

Some of the standards and teaching methods are out right ridiculous!! With out giving the children the proper foundation of the basics you are setting our children up for failure. Shame on you all!! You are going to create a generation of children that hate school and learning.

This is another move towards a dictatorship. The states can manage their own standards which is the point of having individual states.We should abolish the Dept. of Education as well.

I think the common core is a joke as adults we cannot help our children with their homework have to call teacher at home so child doesn't get a 0 on a simple homework assignment the dropout rate will climb if this continues!

Common core standards set much too high of expectations for kindergarteners, first and second graders. Children will definitely fall behind. These standards need to be modified. Unacceptable.
