Common Core has taken my Selena And made her HATE SCHOOL ! She could not wait to go to school since she new what it was and saw the school bus! she use to cry I WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL! And I Would have to tell her you have to wait a little longer I singed her up for HEAD Start imedeatly! My son Matthew is being so left behind he is actually at a kindergarden level but Margretville Central School Has pushed him throw to third grade He had a speech problem do to not being able to here and instead of holding him back so he can catch up they imedietly wrote him an IEP. and agenst his father's and my better judgement they keep pushing him throw nomatter what we say They told us NO CILD LEFT BEHIND! AMERICA IS RASING UNEDJUCATED CILDREN who cant read or wright ther own name AND THE ICEING ON THE CAKE IS THEY ARE REFUSING TO TEACH OUR CHILDREN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! Do to this will history repet it"s self?

This is another failure from the government. There is no thought process behind it, or problem solving skills. In addition, there is no teaching of science, social studies, history etc. All there is in it, is parents, students and teachers frustration, and the only ones that benefit are those who are closely tied to politians, but have not been in the classroom teaching children in over 40 years.

Common Core Standards are wrong for our young children,it's mental abuse,where is your heart and empathy Education Chancellor,we all cannot afford private tutors. It is wrong dead wrong for our young children, especially our 3rd graders, the standard of work is way too advance for these children It's Mental Abuse.

I have a daughter who is a Freshman and I have a son who is in 5th grade. They both have always been exceptional students until this year. My daughter is almost failing math and had to seek help outside the school and my son is in tears every night while doing homework out of frustration. I have never seen self confidence deteriorite so fast. I have spoke with numerious families that are going thru the same thing. The teachers are struggling as well. This program will be the demise of America!

My girls used to enjoy Math until the Common Core initiative at our school. I had straight A's in Math and so did my wife. The concepts in the books do not show the easiest method or most efficient way of resolving a problem and this is a huge oversight with these materials.

My 3rd grader shouldn't have to use 6 steps to do a simple subtraction problem, and cry hysterically over math homework at 8 years old. Now her class has moved on to GEOMETRY that I took in 11th grade. Please stop comparing our children to and demand that they "keep up with" the kids in China. I live in AMERICA for a reason. Half the parents don't understand the new Common Core ways of doing math and can't help their kids with their homework, or test prep. The children should learn the BASICS of math before you start throwing college type problems at them at 7,8, and 9 years old. I was an honor student from grade school through high school and a lot of the math problems that my THIRD GRADER has to answer confuse me. It's not fair to expect EVERYONE (including parents) to "get it" and fail students and teachers when no one does.

Common Core is way too difficult for our little ones to comprehend not to mentions us adults. Just let them learn the normal way and stop pushing unnecessary logic down their throats. Maybe their intention is for kids to get fed up and have a disinterest in school, then what would they do.

The way in which the common core is taught is lengthy, confusing, indirect way of teaching something simple. Children in first grade do not understand the community to which they live why should they learn about an abstract ancient civilization now? The vocabulary taught is not vocabulary that will be used in their everyday speech or language that they will come across often. This program was written by adults whom at the present are extremely detached to the children they are writing the program for. It is sad that Common Core is written by companies that back political party endorsements. It should be criminal that they are destroying the minds of young people by endorsing sales of new texts, workbooks, and assessments. These costs are in the millions. This passed because of profits to companies. It is so very sad.
