I can't believe this method of teaching math is so convoluted. Math, as it is, confuses a lot of people and CC sets up a lot of kids who are struggling with math, to fail! Stop common core and get back to basics, including decreasing the number of students per teacher in a class.

My daughter is crying, and I'm frustrated just watching her. My heart breaks for her, and she's only in 2nd Grade. I showed her the way we used to add numbers, and she asks... why can't we just do that in school?... Honey, I couldn't agree with you more! Please help stop Common Core math in NYS!

Hi,
I am not totally against common core, but anything that has my daughters entire class crying over math problems that they can't figure out is just plain wrong
Especially when it took my wife and I (both college educated and working in the sciences) over ten minutes to figure out.
The math section needs altering.

Common Core is failing my daughter. It breaks my heart to see her struggle. This is not the way we should be teaching our children. Common core sets our children up to fail. DOWN WITH COMMON CORE!!!!

I have two children, my oldest is in third grade and my youngest is in first grade. My third grader is struggling in school this year due to the common core. So much has changed in the curriculum and it needs to change, we are throwing to much at our young children and the hopes that the graduation rate is going to increase is going to backfire. Once these young children get into higher grades, I am worried that they will lose interest in school due to being worked so hard so young.

Stop this craziness. Why take the long way home of trying to figure out a simple problem that should be done in a minute go into 25 or 30 minutes. Our kids are stressed to the max where homework is taking hours and there is no more family time at night.
