As a long time Smyrna resident and property owner adjacent to the proposed area to be developed into a massive Solar Complex. I believe the community should be aware of the injustice that Free Point Solar is about to commit against law abiding property owners in this agricultural conservation district if Levy Court allows it.

Back in 1992, Kent County Levy Court made into law the Coastal Heritage Greenway Act. This law restricts development in this area east of Smyrna protecting the agricultural lands and wildlife habitat.

Based on Kent County law, this solar complex violates the following regulations for building in a Conservation District.

1, Commercial and industrial manufacturing - not permitted

Solar complex would cover 260 acres manufacturing 60 cycle AC electricity.

2. Environmental and Health Risks - not permitted

Solar complex would expose lead, cadmium, and high voltage radiation to the surrounding community.

3. Building structures not in character with the surrounding area - not permitted

Solar complex is industrial and not in character with the agricultural and wetland surroundings.

Please sign and share this petition in opposition to Free Point Solar constructing a solar complex in an agricultural conservation district. Your signature will help save this Smyrna, Delaware farmland and wildlife habitat from being destroyed. Levy Court will be voting on this proposal January 25th @ 7:00pm We appreciate your support.

The momentum is undeniable now. Kent County Levy Court cannot ignore the clear opposition to this industrial project.

Big solar on conservation land would affect the waterfowl, agriculture in the state of Delaware, and the well-being of the surrounding community negatively. The history of this farmland with a farmhouse that dates back to the 1600s is one of the oldest houses in America. There are Native American and African American burial sites there. I believe testing down that old farmhouse and building panels on top of these burials site is disrespectful. But my greatest concern is the amount of radiation that is transmitted from the transmission wires not the panels and the leakage of led and other wastes into the soul. Our farmland and history will be destroyed if millions of panels cover it.

They picked a poor location next to tidal marsh land, very prone to flooding if and when it does flood chemicals from the panels could effect the local wildlife. The company has not won he hearts and minds of any of the locals, it’s been voted down once it should be voted down again

I am against this solar project because it is an environmental hazard as well as a major health hazard to nearby residents. and violates the county code on commercial and industrial zoning.

Protect our agricultural wetlands and environment from solar farm develpers who want to change existing protective laws so they can quickly profit and not be held accountable for the long term effects.
