The Salvation Army have proposed a 4 year lease to house over 30 homeless people at any one time. It is literally directly oppositethe gates of the school! The risk to our school, community and more importantly the safety of our children and indeed the residents themselves are not being considered enough to reconsider this! So please sign this petition to request the landlord to not go ahead with leasing its building for this purpose!

lets hope that common sense prevails. I'm appalled that this location was even considered so near a School. I'm watching and wondering why it was shrouded in secrecy, hardly anyone knew. Time for a proper consultation with the people of Wyken
All for helping the homeless but not the best of locations opposite vulnerable kids..obviously all homeless people are not a danger but there's still going to the odd few that potentially could be and putting kids in a potential dangerous situation is never going to go down well ...think a relocation is needed x
I'm extremely concerned for the safety of my daughter who attended this school,I took no comfort or reasurrance from the meeting and feel that the decision was made regardless of children's safety,
Homeless people should get the help they need but opening up housing right outside school gates is. a decision that obviously has not been made regarding the safety of our children! The community has not been informed and that was apparent in the 2 meetings held at Caludon Castle School.
Homeless people have a right to a home, however what category of homeless people will be living in the hostel? People just released from prison? Not only is the proposed hostel opposite a large school's gates, there is also a unit for difficult to reach (and vulnerable) teenagers.
The dangers which this centre presents to young people is unbelievable. It is only a matter of time before something happens.
I don't understand why this had been allowed.

I have observed the drug dealing and drug use by individuals living at this centre which could potentially risk the children at the school.
