Stop Aids Hospice / Orphanage/ Crèche/ Chapel/ Social Housing Units / Education Centre being Developed in Kibler Park

We as the communities of Kibler Park, Alveda Park and the surrounding areas affected hereby wish to raise our objection to the establishment and development of an Aids Orphanage, Hospice, Social Housing Units, Crèche, Chapel and Aids Awareness and Education Centre on the Farm Olifantsvlei 327-IQ, Portion 115 (extent 47264 square meters or 4.72 Hectares) situated on Gordon Road, Kibler Park (next to Danie Theron Primary School) on the following grounds:

  • An NGO facility (Non Governmental Organisation) called Nkosi's Haven which has been in existence since 1999 is situated 4.2 km from the proposed development site. Nkosi's Haven offers holistic care and support for destitute HIV/Aids infected mothers, their children and resulting aids orphans. (Whether these orphans are infected or not).
  • Infrastructure and services in the area are under severe pressure due to the extent of development currently in the area. (This includes electricity supply, water supply and sewerage services)
  • Only one primary school and one secondary school currently in the area would not be able to cope with the additional learners being introduced to the area.
  • The increased traffic volume on Gordon Road, Kibler Park which is already suffering from high levels of congestion (especially during morning and afternoon peak periods).
  • Gordon Road, Kibler Park not being able to carry the increased load of construction vehicles with the resultant physical damage to the road service, noise and disruption to the residents of the surrounding areas.
  • The environmental impact of increased dust/noise levels to the area during construction.
  • Already elevated crime levels in Kibler Park / Alveda Park and surrounding areas could potentially increase with the additional inflow of traffic to the area during and after construction of these facilities.
  • No direct benefit to Kibler Park / Alveda Park and surrounding areas as the facility is being planned for residents from outside the development area.

This is 'n "no-go" . We have gad water leaks over the past 2 years that take the municipality months to fix . Proving that put more demand on the infra structure will cause calamity. Every so often we have sewer blockages which takes days to attend to. Public safety is also an issue with our nearest police station 7 km's away in the far off suburb of Mondeor.

The current Infrastructure is already insufficient, Gordon rd can't handle the additional traffic and congestion, not enough schools in the area to cover the children already here, classes are overfill and children dropping out because of the strain, drug dealing and drugs in the area are a real problem, effective law control and crime prevention is poor

This same developer wanted to build a shopping center on the same site only a few months ago. I object to this development because it is not for the benefit of the local residents.

All projects start off with the best intentions but sooner or later the funding for such dries up and these establishments become the responsibility of the residents in the area where they are located. Our community needs cohesion and upliftment not a financial burden.

We do not have a decent Secondary school, yet developers want to increase the number of people in the area. Also there has been a lot of developmentstuff in the area and it is really affecting the electricity, water and sewerage available in the area. More developments in the area will be a major problem to the resources available in our area.

This is not meant for our direct community. Rather support Nkosi's Haven and upgrade and already established facility.

(1) Kibler Park/Alveda being reduced to the social levels of Hillbrow and Rosettenville at the expense of the local property owners (2) Kibler/Alveda are currently undergoing a crime surge and any such development can only contribute negatively to the local investors (3) The insufficient number of police deployed to protect Kibler Parkers from criminality has failed, for say five years, to remove the often naked sex workers from their hibernation only a stones throw away the proposed development (4) An illegal taxi rank, virtually on the doorsteps of property owners, causes chaos and devaluation of propeties (5) Gordon Road can not cope with traffic and the attendant noise for the people in the neighbourhood (6) The proposed development appears to be the work of an entity seeking self-serving socio-political interests. They should be more considerate to their country men. There is abundance of land for such a development elsewhere
