St. George's Dragon Orphanage is a company which sells green anole lizards. It is also a company that daily abuses them. They are left without water and fed laboratory produced food instead of the crickets that are their natural diet. Given a choice, they would never eat this junk. But in small cages with no other food, they must choke it down or starve. These cages often contain more than one lizard in less space than one alone needs. One lizard should have a cage about the size of a five gallon fish tank, but two or three live in a space less than this. These cages offer no place for them to hide and force them to be out in the open, often in the sun. The containers are lined with gravel at the bottom, which the lizards can choke on and die. They are helpless. They have no voice. It is up to us to tell St. George's that this is not okay. Sign this petition to tell them that we will not stand for this abuse.

Updates

March 21, 2025

The feedback regarding the conditions at St. George's Dragon Orphanage confirms that many others are deeply troubled by the current treatment of these lizards. I am currently compiling documentation to present to the relevant oversight authorities.

The momentum behind this effort has grown significantly in recent days. Receiving this level of attention confirms that many people hold a deep concern for the welfare of these animals. I am now preparing to formalize our request for a meeting with the administration at St. George's.

I bought a green anole from him. His information was completely wrong. Leafy was older then he said and he died 3 months later due to truama and abuse. My son was super sad. As he was attached to leafy a lot. This animal abuser will keep going until he is stopped. If you spot him report him to the police for animal cruelty that's all I have to say

Me and my friends bought an anole at our high school flea market thinking this is an innocent exchange. By further research after we got the pet, we realized that it takes more care than we thought it would. The main points the man claims we could do with the anole were “feed with baby food” and “leave it alone for 3 weeks without worry”.

This is the one part of the NY Renaissance faire that makes me sad and angry every year. Wish they would refuse to have them back.

I saw this at the Renaissance Fair and I thought it was absolutely disgusting. The lady was giving false information to people leading them to believe that they are able to live in the small cage and have a small diet. Absolutely horrible.

We purchased a pregnant anole for our daughter. Well, she was supposed to be pregnant. $55 for a sick Anole and a centipede infested cage. Not to mention the fly food that she doesn't eat. An Anole was also purchased for my niece. She was actually a he. No pregnancy here. HE can't have babies.

We bought one at a fair, not knowing anything about them. He died last night after 5 weeks. These poor animals are helpless! Went to my local aquarium store and found out how much is needed for a healthy anole lizard. Not fair for the animal, not to mention my devastated daughter.

I bought a anole from this guy. I trusted the information I was given. I was lied to.
