This site is critical both for its historical significance in the Revolutionary War and its geological significance for our understanding of the Taconian plate collision event.

I visited this site several times on geology field trips with both Hartwick College and Binghamton University. It is an important site to our local NY geology and some of the few areas to see igneous rocks in NYS. As a current public high school earth science educator in Vestal, NY, and a woman in science, I believe this site should be preserved and restored for the use of educational groups- not only because of its geological significance, but also for its early connections to Women in STEM!
