Please take a moment and show your support for a Chief who has supported and served the State Police and Citizens of New Mexico for 26 years.
We, past and present members of the New Mexico State Police, friends and family, wish to show support for Chief Pete Kassetas.
Under Chief Kassetas, we have received five commissioned officers’ pay raises, incredible equipment upgrades including communications, vehicles, enforcement systems several new district offices, and a helicopter. Chief Kassetas has worked to address the difficulty in recruiting and retaining officers, New Mexico auto theft problems, crimes against children, Driving While Intoxicated, public corruption, and numerous other critical issues. He also worked to complete the merger of the former Special Investigations Division (SID) and the Motor Transportation Division (MTD) into State Police, bringing the considerable resources of these two organizations under the direction of the New Mexico State Police.
Chief Kassetas, thank you for your twenty-six years of service to our state and our people, including six years as our chief. We offer you our support and thanks.

I really thought this might sit in a corner quietly but watching the momentum grow has been honestly overwhelming in the best way. Seeing so many people recognize what he built over those twenty-six years makes me feel like we are finally doing right by him. It is just wild to see how many of you showed up to back him after everything he did for the state.

Chief, thank you for all of your support, especially of the State Police Association. You gave us a voice and, while we didn’t always agree, you listened and considered what we have to say. You have been a great contributing member and we appreciate your help moving us forward. You have been a truly remarkable leader and I thank you.
As former Chief of NMMP and working with NMSP for over 10 years Chief Kassesta has taken strong actions to improve the funding, multi-agency relations and support and status is NMSP.
As a retired APD Detective in Auto Theft, I had the opportunity to work with Pete Kassetas many years ago before he became Chief of NMSP. He works as hard now as he did back then, always ready to get the job going, and get a good outcome. I support him 100%.
In the end, there are those who did and those who did not; this chief DID. Whether you like him or not, the REALITY is that he’s done MORE for State Police than ANY other chief since I’ve been around...and I LIKED some of those chiefs! He’s got my support.
He has always treated me and my family with the greatest respect. He has given my son, my wife and I the most memorable and special moment when my 6 year old son was asked to participate in NMSP uniform at the 92nd graduate class.
Thank you Chief for making State Police a great place to work. I surely do miss it very much! Thank you for keeping New Mexico safe.
Chief K has made tremendous steps in moving the Department in a positive direction. Thank You!

He saved my life as police officer. I got into a shooting when I was a young 27 year old troop. I remember the day he spoke to me and treated me like a human being. I will never forget his kind gesture and professionalism. Although, he wasn't the cheif when it happened. I appreciate him and will always respect him for what he did.
