Stand up against Liberty University: Move LC graduation from May 7th

I understand what LC was trying to do, which is making sure there is enough room for parents and guests in hotels when they come down, but they shouldn't have condensed everything. That makes everything harder, more inconvenient, and stressful on everyone, and it takes away OUR SENIOR week. That week is for us to celebrate our accomplishments, and we don't get that. The diploma is a large part of graduatIon, and we don't get that either. We pay a lot to go to this school and we should have at least been included in the decision, especially the seniors.

i strongly think that LC should not have to move their graduation date, impacting the students and there schedules, due to LU's graduation date.

Absolutely absurd to see a "small, personal" school buckle at the whims and desires of a larger more influential one. As a graduate of the class of 2016 I do not believe that we should suffer from an unnecessary scheduling change.

I understand moving it for sake of no hotel rooms, added traffic and other in conveniences. But can't they move it a week back to the following weekend and start the spring semester a week later?

This isn't fair to the seniors. Graduation has been a set date for a long time and to suddenly move it isn't right.

If you are going to do this then change the academic calendar back to how it previously was, starting a week earlier in January. A 4 week break is long enough

Lynchburg college will be taking away the graduation experience!!! We were looking forward to our son receiving his diploma and photos of him receiving it. Feeling cheated of this life experience!

Coming from a Lynchburg College Alumni's perspective, It's unethical. First, despite the small school size, students are actually very important at Lynchburg College and should be recognized accordingly by keeping the initial graduation date as it was before. In no way, shape or form, should every other LC Student or LC Parent be held liable because of only a few phone calls from parents who sent half of their children to separate schools consciously knowing that someday, there may be an issue with attending both events. If this is the case then these parents should own up to the responsibility of the actions they have placed forward, simple as that. Second, the goal of graduation is for students not from Lynchburg College but all over the world is to display one of their utmost greatest accomplishments to have something in their hand to walk away with for the rest of their lives. Some people may accept walking away with nothing but most people would rather enjoy the simplicity of having a degree to show their families upfront that they committed to accomplishing a goal in life. I can understand the few who want to walk without one but to have almost every student walk with no degree in the tube is pure outrageous and utterly shameless. Third, I wrote all of this because of the love I have for Lynchburg College and the love for a school that has returned it back to me.

Absolutely not fair. Taking away such a treasured school tradition, especially without even trying to find another way to approach/rectify the situation, is extremely disappointing and angering.

I am an alum of Lynchburg College class of 2014 and co-founder of the Lynchburg College Wrestling Club. I have watched what senior week does for students and it gives them one last chance to say goodbye to the place they have called home for the past four to five years. Not giving the students a reading day is crazy because that day allows students to finish final projects and assignments as well as helps professors with getting grades entered. Not receiving your diploma the day your graduate will be devastating to the students of Lynchburg College. Please move the graduation day back. Also not before the graduation date changed in 2012 there where conflicts with parents and loved ones staying in hotels around and near Lynchburg I had several friends whose families had to stay as far south as Greensboro NC and as far north as Staunton VA.
