PETITION: Re: St Thomas Aquinas Redevelopment We the undersigned are opposed to the scope of changes proposed by the Halton Catholic School Board for St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Our protest is in regards to the lack of respect for our green and quiet community we currently enjoy - and that Oakville so proudly professes to endear. Specifically we object to: Sports-field flood lights: This will destroy a quiet neighbourhood with invasive light, crowd and car noise to 11:30pm Removal of mature trees: Especially those along Lakeshore Road and Dorval Road Adding a new street onto Lakeshore Road across from Holyrood Ave - This will create more traffic congestion on Lakeshore and cause needless destruction of mature trees. Excessive parking due to plans for high general-community usage: Asphalt parking lots will cover much of the area not covered by the building or artificial sports field. Eliminating the parkland currently enjoyed by the public for casual sports and exercise. Please limit the plans to a school, not a community centre!
