Although sidewalks and speed limit signs do make a difference, when you have people that do not obey a sign there is no point.
As a 30year resident of Warner Ave S, a few doors away from OHA, and a former student I agree something needs to be done on Warner.
My dad fought for a long time to have a sidewalk put in, when I was in school we had to walk in the ditch to school.
What Warner needs is a few stop signs right by the school. I can’t even count the number of people that race past our house all hours of the day. Having such a long, straight road with no stop sign it turns into a drag strip.
PLEASE INSTALL STOP SIGNS!!!

I have lived on Mahtomedi Ave since 1984. It is such a natural route to bike around the lake BUT there is no bike lane!

“Safe routes to school” from every neighborhood in Mahtomedi has been and continues to be a high priority goal of our residents, and our school district. Please continue to prioritize this and work towards this cooperative goal that will improve lives, and the value of living in this community..

Concerned about safety on Warner Road. Any way to organize parent safety patrols for spring of 2021? I am grandparent and would help with a temporary solution til a more permanent one could be found.

We need better road accommodations for bikes and walkers. We live on Park Ave and there are no speed limit signs in our area, on Park. Drivers arriving at and departing the beach often speed on Park.

Recommended Actions:
1) Update the Mahtomedi 2015 Safe Routes to Schools plan with safety priorities supported by PTO
2) Identify demonstration projects (S Warner to OHA) that can be accomplished by parents and students in 2020
3) Organize bike and walk student and parent clubs to get over 10% of students biking or walking to school in 2020.
4) Present proposals to SRTS coordinator, mayors, city councils, city and county engineers and school board.
5) Create strategic greenway corridors from Century to school campus on Stillwater Road/12 and from District Center to OHA on Warner Road

Warner Road is very unsafe due to it being a narrow road (in particular from OHA to Stillwater Rd.) and drivers, including buses drive very fast along that corridor.

Consider closing 1 lane on Warner during select morning and afternoon hours to accommodate walkers and bikers. Put a crossing guard at Stillwater and Warner.

Safer routes would be great ! Walking and biking access to OHA and safe ways for kids to cross hwy 12 to WW, MMS and MHS are priorities in my opinion.
