I have heard the proposal for the Spring City Power Biomass Power Plant and I fully support the project. I ask the Government and Bahamas Power & Light to move forward with the Bahamian developers as quickly as possible to lower the power prices here in Abaco.
I have been staring at the electricity rates again and it honestly just baffles me how we are expected to keep up with these costs while the solution is right there waiting. I am currently trying to get a straight answer from the folks over at the utility office about the status of the biomass project because the silence is getting a bit deafening at this point.

I really never thought this would gain this much steam but here we are and it just feels surreal to see so many people actually agreeing that our power bills are totally insane. I keep looking at the comments and thinking about how much we all need this change in Abaco so please keep talking about this at the grocery store or wherever you happen to be.

In 3 months my bill leaped from $300 to $600 to $900+. I’m don’t think I did anything different to warrant these increases. I’ve been told it was fuel surcharges.......

Renewal Energy would be advantageous in many ways. It can help save our planer from the damage cause by burning fossil fuel. It can create jobs and stimulate the economy and help to lower electricity cost. I would support this project and would like to see possibly share offerings to local bahamians who can buy into the business similar to the Arawak Port which gives bahamians a sense of ow nership which will empower more bahamians.

I think Bahamas need to utilize the alternate power source so easily available instead of relying on non functioning power from BPL

I think this has to be the best idea for the low electric in abaco. We are spending far to much for fuel surplus. And the elect too. This should do away with the fuel.
