We, the undersigned, call on the Bahamas Government and the Minister for Energy to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for rolling out electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across the Bahamas. This initiative is crucial for promoting EV adoption and supporting sustainable transportation in our beautiful country.

As citizens and residents of the Bahamas, we recognize the urgent need for a sustainable and environmentally friendly transportation system. Electric vehicles (EVs) present a significant opportunity to reduce our carbon footprint, decrease reliance on fossil fuels, and improve air quality. However, the lack of adequate charging infrastructure remains a major barrier to widespread EV adoption.

We request the following actions to be taken as part of a comprehensive plan to develop EV charging infrastructure:

1. Installation of DC Fast Chargers:
   • Three DC Fast Chargers to be strategically located: one in East Nassau, one in West Nassau, and one in Central Nassau. These chargers will support long-distance travel and ensure EV owners can quickly recharge their vehicles.
2. Deployment of Level 2 Chargers:
   • Government Buildings and Gas Stations: Level 2 chargers should be installed at all government buildings and gas stations to provide convenient charging options for EV owners.
   • Family Islands: At least two Level 2 chargers should be installed in every major family island to ensure accessibility for residents and visitors alike.
3. Free Charging Infrastructure Rollout by End of 2025:
   • The development and rollout of free EV charging infrastructure should be completed by the end of 2025 to encourage more people to switch to electric vehicles without the burden of additional costs.
