Spar are intending to open a store on Melton Road, West Bridgford, near the Total Fuel Garage. Due to the fact planning permission from Rushcliffe Borough Council IS NOT REQUIRED, any attempt to stop this going ahead is left up to the local community.

 

  • The small businesses located on Melton Road work hard to provide unique, quality, independent services to the local community. A chain store such as Spar would hit these businesses hard. In reality closure would be faced by many.
  •  We feel that West Bridgford is very well catered for in terms of convenient, late night and early morning stores. Which include independants, chains of stores and supermarkets. The opening of a spar would not, we feel, enhance the shopping experience of the local community. Indeed, we feel the opening of this store may detract from the area and create potential focal point for anti-social behaviour.
  • Please show your support for the local businesses of Melton Road by sIgning this petition. We will then present it to Rushcliffe Borough Council in order to make sure the local communities voice is heard.
