Dear Edina School Board,
This letter is to recognize the outstanding leadership and teaching staff at South View Middle School.
My student attends South View and we are happy with the school’s leadership, teachers, and programming. We are particularly excited about the “daily flex” addition to the schedule and the increased choice for students to get what they need.
Since the school board typically hears from people when they are dissatisfied, we want to make sure you know that we are pleased with our experience at South View and give a big KUDOS to the teaching staff and administration of our school.

My son is in the Advanced Academics/Gifted and Talented programming and is achieving top test scores in his classes, standardized tests, and recently took the ACT (early) and scored better than 70 percent of all students taking the test. South View provides an academically rigorous experience that challenges all learners!
Having the Daily Flex gives our kid the opportunity to make the best of use of her time. It encourages her to think about what she needs in terms of school work support and then how to help meet that need.
Daily flex has directly contributed to my student’s success at SVMS. I truly appreciate everything Dr. Tim Anderson and his staff has done for my student and myself. They are committed and caring professionals.
So impressed with Tim Anderson and the teaching staff at Southview! And I simply cannot say enough great things about the under-resourced ASD special ed team, who work tirelessly every day to make sure the kids they serve have a chance to feel successful in school!
Daily Flex, Advisory, Stream, pacing options, learning options, spaces, teachers, support staff, ect.. These are just a few of the reasons our son has been so successful at South View. We could not be any happier or more satisfied with the skills and education he is receiving there. We are so lucky to be a part of the SVMS and whole Edina family.

I think that all teachers at SVMS are fantastic and highly dedicated, but I want to give a special shout out to the AVID program that Mr. Banko leads. It has been a huge motivation for my son this year as they start to explore the possibilities for college and work on organizational and other skills.
