Currently, the SOMA School District has non operational Code Red Security Systems in all of the Distrcit's schools. Our children are not adequately protected.

We, the parents, are demanding that the Superintendent and the BOE of the South Orange/Maplewood School District resolve this situation immediately. We want interim Code Red protocols implemented by Monday, June 23, 2014 and a permanent solution by September 1, 2014 (including a working button, lockdown doors and wired cameras).

There have been 74 gun incidents in US schools in the last 18 months since Sandy Hook Elementary. 15 of those were live shooter events (Oregon being the most recent) that have resulted in loss of life (or lives).

Tell the Superintendent and the BOE - KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE!

The Superintendent and the Board of Education are still hiding behind excuses while our children remain unprotected in schools with broken security systems. I am tired of the silence from district leadership so I am taking this fight directly to them in person tomorrow.

June 18, 2014

The momentum behind this push proves the Superintendent and the Board of Education can no longer ignore this dangerous incompetence. They are gambling with our children while our security systems rot in disrepair. Keep applying the pressure because this administration needs to feel the heat until those cameras are wired and the doors are locked.

Why is this even a conversation? Just get the equipment working. Safety isnt an option.

This is completely unacceptable. How can they just ignore security systems when our kids are in the building every single day? Fix it now.

Do your jobs so we dont have to worry about our kids when we drop them off.

My kids go to school here and I feel sick thinking about this. Get it done before something happens.
