As parents, grandparents, caregivers, and friends of children under age 6, we ask City officials to support and approve the development of a soft playroom in the City of Alexandria, VA.
There is a lack of recreational opportunities for this age group in the City, and we believe it is time to correct that.
We applaud the initiative as it is envisioned so far, with the space provided by the City of Alexandria and the equipment paid for by funds raised by private citizens. We ask the City to identify and approve a location for immediate development. The City initially suggested the conversion of a racquetball court at Chinquapin Park Recreation Center at 3210 King Street. We support that location unless the City provides a better alternative. We want a location that is: 1. appropriate for our children and the purposes of the soft playroom; and 2. readily available for development in a short timeframe.
we just hit 100 signatures and i am honestly blown away. it is so cool to see this many people actually care about getting a space for the little ones in alexandria.

We need this for the community. Tired of driving to Arlington just to find a decent play area.

Chinquapin is wasted space right now. Turn those courts into something useful for the kids.
