Desperately need traffic to slow down on child's lane, all the way through to smallwood traffic lights, someone will be hurt if something isn't done soon!

It isnt safe to walk my dogs on the Congleton Road. Some cars drive very fast and dont slow down. There are blind corners that make it treacherous.

Smallwood is a busy place for horseriders, cyclists and walkers. You can't go far without seeing someone tearing around the lanes!

These lanes should have a maximum speed limit of 30 mph, and some of the smaller ones i.e. Brook lane, and the narrow stretches of Walhill Lane should be limited to 20 mph

Having been a resident in Brownlow for 16 years not only is the increasing volume of traffic in the immediate locality of concern, but the manner in which many choose to traverse these country lanes.

The sooner speed limits and traffic calm measures are installed the better, otherwise this rat run will simply get more dangerous with the new link road.

Many more people are using the country lanes to avoid the congestion on the A. Roads. With the amount of new houses/housing estates popping up all over Cheshire this is only going to get worse. A speed limit on our local roads is well overdue.

I agree that it is ludicrous that there is no limit through the village - it should be a maximum of 40. Is there anything to stop locals putting up advisory notices if the Council won't do anything formally?

Hi I'm a resident of Brownlow heath lane and have had two near misses with my young child on the roads. I have seen a dramatic increase in rat runners past my house. The lanes need to be safer to help protect the elderly, young, cyclists and horse riders that use them. Ease don't ignore us and only take notice when someone gets seriously hurt.

I cycle regularly in this area and agree strongly with the comments made about the taffic dangers especially for vulnerable road users.

We could do with all these 'rural' roads being designated as such just as is done in Germany. They have I think a 20MPH limit or possibly less. Another solution which ought to appeal to the Market driven government is to put a toll gate on the narrow bits of (say) Childs Lane and Brownlow. That would stop the rat run pretty quick.

I have been concerned for several years about the speed of traffic in Smallwood. I am reluctant to walk with our dogs on the Congleton Road because I think it is dangerous. Also the turn onto Congleton Road at the top end of Pools Lane is treacherous due to the speed of traffic suddenly appearing to right or left.

A few weeks ago, our regular postman Mark was hit by a car speeding through Martins Moss as he delivered the mail on foot. I saw it happen and was horrified. Luckily he has made a full recovery, but it could have killed him. Martins Moss is used as a rat run avoiding the traffic lights at Four Lane ends. It would be great to have it included in any review of Smallwood roadways.

Horse riders, dog walkers, cyclists and people just out for a run or walk all enjoying the beautiful countryside, don't let speeding motorists spoil it for them slow down for Smallwood!

I run round the lanes of Smallwood and when running along Congleton Road/Church Lane on a week day afternoon recently I nearly got flattened on a few occasions!! I couldn't believe the speed people were driving, with no consideration whatsoever for other road users, I had to jump into the hedge to avoid being ran over. I also ride horses out round the lanes but tend to avoid this road as it's just not safe any more. It definitely needs speed restrictions enforcing.
