Petition Background (Preamble):
It is the experience of the residents of the Collington Pointe Neighborhood that the current speed limit of 30mph is far too high and, in fact, encourages motorists to speed through our neighborhood at rates above 30mph, routinely. We are an active neighborhood and it is not uncommon to see neighbors conversing in the streets, children playing in their front yards or people engaging in physical activity on the roadways.
These rapid speeds are a real danger to the bicyclists, runners, and children who reside in our neighborhood.
It is our opinion that the legal speed limit should be reduced to a maximum of 25mph in order to help safeguard our children and others.
A formal request was presented to the Lysander Town Board on September 14th, 2015 to reduce the speed limit. The Board response was encouraging. As a part of the Board's review they have requested a petition that represents the neighbors in support reducing the speed limit to the lowest legal limit of 25mph to send to the NYS Dept of Transportation.

Therefore, we, the residents of the Town of Lysander and the homeowners within the Collington Pointe Neighborhood in Lysander, NY, petition the town to reduce the speed limit in our subdivision from 30 to at least 25 mph, to help promote and secure the safety of our children.

We concur the speed limit be reduced throughout all streets within the Collington Pointe Neighborhood

People treat our street like a race track and its only a matter of time before someone gets hit. 30 is way too fast for a residential area with this many kids running around.
We concur the speed limit be reduced throughout all streets within the Collington Pointe Neighborhood
