This is not appropriate. These children's feelings should be respected as regards cruelty towards their pets.Who thought of this bright idea?

Once again an institution teaches that compassion has a limit, - it ends where personal desire and convenience begins! Pathetic. Each one of those ducks is an individual. It's time to truly teach compassion and respect. Send the ducks to a sanctuary and cook some healthy, non-violent food instead!

This is a horrible practice. Teaching children it is okay to kill the ones they love and then EAT THEM??? What kind of sick person thought this up to do to children.

The act of killing an animal for food, teaches a very valuable lesson about life to the kids of our generation. Children are growing up sheltered from the world around them, and are failing to see the value in taking an animals life. For centuries we as humans have killed other living organisms to survive. It is how we have gotten this far. I think people are forgetting our roots. It's not like the meat you buy in a grocery store was somehow not a living animal. In fact, It very much was! And I would bet that these animals did not have a very great life before their death. What JLC is doing, is teaching the kids of this generation the value of life. It is that simple.

I would like to allow everyone to become aware that this was always an assignment for the outdoor Ed class at JLC and with the assistance of the teacher they raised these ducks and eventually the teacher put them down so they could be prepared as food for the students of his class. If this isn't teaching a great life lesson on raising an animal and how to prepare it once it has come time for it's life to end I don't know what is. These ducks lived a great life and it ended with nutrition for the students who put hard work into the ducks everyday

Teaching children to kill and eat animals is not ethical, nor is it accaptable for tax payers to be contributing to.
