“Tatu: Colony or City?”

Set up by Stephen Jennings, Tatu City merely exists to extract Kenya’s wealth and place it in the hands of foreign investors. It is not a city, but a COLONY; and Stephen Jennings is a COLONIZER. A colonizer is someone who aims to profit from the resources of colonised countries and does not plan his future in terms of the colony, as he is only there to benefit himself.

Tatu City’s local Kenyan staff are exploited and mistreated. Many have complained of racist behaviour and high-handedness from their bosses. And for complaining they have been fired. Tatu City's Kenyan investors. Additionally, despite the over KSh 10 billion, continue to be treated like colonial subjects rather than Kenyan citizens. We expected to be grateful for the merger services they provide us. Residents have had to live with contaminated water, that caused skin irritations, stomach infections and general ill health. Additionally, during the worst health crisis in a decade in which one's ability to access clean water was directly tied to their ability to keep themselves safe, Tatu City Management restricted water supply. Moreover, residents pay double for electricity, for half as much service. Meanwhile, Tatu-City’s blue-eyed investors always receive clean and fresh water, properly priced electricity and better services in general.

In light of the above, we feel that Tatu City has abused its status as a Special Economic Zone, to exploit its local investors and staff. As such, we ask for the revocation of its license, and an investigation into the legality of the conduct of Tatu City's Management.
