Dave Denenberg, as legislator and director of LI Clean Air Water & Soil, Ltd. (“CAWS”), led the fight for public water. Investor-owned utilities holding a monopoly on a public necessity – water - charge outrageous rates to secure record profits to shareholders.

Dave worked with our state officials to establish the South Nassau Water Authority (“SNWA”) in 2022. Dave forced reluctant town and county representatives to appoint commissioners to SNWA; and ratepayers hoped the commissioners would act in ratepayers' interest and implement a public takeover of Liberty. That was over a year ago! No public meetings were held to date.

Two of the commissioners now resigned – one appointed to the town board and the other running for county legislator. Clearly, as Commissioners, they dutifully did nothing because the town and county bosses do not want to lose taxes they receive from Liberty's ratepayers to the tune of over $12 million a year – taxes that residents with municipal water do not pay.

It is unconstitutional for a municipality to tax one resident for water it does not provide, while providing tax-free water service to most other town residents.

With a projected 42% rate increase, town officials now express outrage. It is unconscionable, and our town and county officials are responsible for this outrage continuing.

it is more important now than ever to appoint to the SNWA board people dedicated to protecting the ratepayers and not town and county coffers. That person is Dave. He would ensure a public acquisition is completed before the rate hike will go into effect.

No one on Long Island is more knowledgeable on this issue than Dave Denenberg. Dave’s negotiation skills are unparalleled. No one will fight harder than Dave!

Please appoint Dave Denenberg to the South Nassau Water Authority board.
