Dave Denenberg, as legislator and director of LI Clean Air Water & Soil, Ltd. (“CAWS”), led the fight for public water. Investor-owned utilities holding a monopoly on a public necessity – water - charge outrageous rates to secure record profits to shareholders.
Dave worked with our state officials to establish the South Nassau Water Authority (“SNWA”) in 2022. Dave forced reluctant town and county representatives to appoint commissioners to SNWA; and ratepayers hoped the commissioners would act in ratepayers' interest and implement a public takeover of Liberty. That was over a year ago! No public meetings were held to date.
Two of the commissioners now resigned – one appointed to the town board and the other running for county legislator. Clearly, as Commissioners, they dutifully did nothing because the town and county bosses do not want to lose taxes they receive from Liberty's ratepayers to the tune of over $12 million a year – taxes that residents with municipal water do not pay.
It is unconstitutional for a municipality to tax one resident for water it does not provide, while providing tax-free water service to most other town residents.
With a projected 42% rate increase, town officials now express outrage. It is unconscionable, and our town and county officials are responsible for this outrage continuing.
it is more important now than ever to appoint to the SNWA board people dedicated to protecting the ratepayers and not town and county coffers. That person is Dave. He would ensure a public acquisition is completed before the rate hike will go into effect.
No one on Long Island is more knowledgeable on this issue than Dave Denenberg. Dave’s negotiation skills are unparalleled. No one will fight harder than Dave!
Please appoint Dave Denenberg to the South Nassau Water Authority board.

It is outrageous that this company is permitted to leave dangerous chemicals in our water and then extort outrageous fees for unsafe water!
"On behalf of thousands of your constituents who are underserved and overtaxed by a private water monopoly and this town, CAWS respectfully requests that the Town of Hempstead appoint Dave Denenberg to SNWA."
The price of Liberty Water is outrageous. Our surrounding neighborhoods are not burdened with private water companies and their rate increases whenever it suits them. Something has to be done.
I had Jamaica Water giving water rate increases just to give their shareholders even more money. I sympathize with those under the thumb of Liberty Water. There should be a municipal authority for this essential resource. Stop inflating the cost of water.
I remember when Dave represented Long Island, and he fought. He didn't just campaign for re-election time. He was a rare legislator who visited the train stations every month, and held meetings to let us know he was on our side. I know he will fight for us now.
Don't raise rates!! We pay enough for everything. Stop the insanity

we need to get control of our water supply. Costs and services are not appropriately managed. I have owned a home out west and costs for my home there (which was much larger) were 1/3 the cost they are in Merrick
