Shutdown the plans to build a new McDonald's
Thank you for taking your time out of your busy life's to read this petition. As a former student at Lester B. Pearson High School, I would like to talk to you about how the building of this new McDonald's would affect our neighborhood in a collectivist idea. The so called delicious burgers, aren't what you think they are. In an experiment done by researchers, they left a burger and an order fries out for 6 months, the result: it never decomposed. If this order of burger and fries does not decompose on its own when it is left out for 6 MONTHS, what is it doing in your body when you digest it? The burger is composed of nasty chemicals that will harm any individuals digestive system. You think the burger sounds bad right? What if I told you that McDonald's has been using "pink slime" for years in their food. What is pink slime? Pink slime is a substance derived from mechanically separated chicken parts that for years was used to make McDonald’s chicken nuggets. When the issue of pink slime was brought to the attention of citizens, McDonald's was forced to discontinue the use of pink slime in their food. I'm pretty sure you wonder what other substances are being used in their food. Studies show that people living in Alberta have lower obesity rates, with the contribution of fat filled foods from the new McDonald's being built, the obesity rate will have a major impact. The main target of the McDonald's being built will be the students of Lester B. Pearson High School. For many previous years, the students from the school have been eating from other restaurants around the school, including a food court. Those local businesses struggle to make a profit, as their main target is also the students of the school. With the addition of a new McDonald's those local businesses will be forced to close, as the local businesses will run out of sales due to the new food available at McDonald's. I would like to thank everyone again for reading this petition, I hope this will have an impact in the community of Pineridge, and raise awareness of having a healthy diet.
