Currently there are no recycling bins in any of the cafeterias at Salem High School. Also, the solar panels at Salem High School have not been in use for an unknown amout of time.

I, the undersigned, do hereby state that I will recycle paper, plastic, and cardboard materials in all three of the cafeterias at Salem High School. I also hereby petition to question the lack of solar panel use at Salem High School.

Recycling should be a part of the education at SHS. So disappointing that the solar panels that we worked so hard to get for SHS are apparently not functioning.

Whatever reasons have been given for not using the panels are likely not insurmountable. And no recycling at the HS?! Really?! We can't even put out our trash without recycling, too, without fear of a fine! City hypocrisy! Go, kids, get 'em!

Does anyone have any insight as to WHY the solar panels are not used? I had no idea they existed.

The same issues are a concern at Collins Middle School. We use styrofoam fore every lunch that goes out!

Why have the solar panels not been turned on? And in a time when the Horace Mann Lab School can separate out its food waste from the breakfast in the classroom program, why can't the high school compost its food waste?

It is shame that they spent the money for the solar panels and don't use them Salem Public Schools can use all the money they can get
