Shooters call for an inquiry into the Christchurch terror attack

Banning weapons is not the way to go, the police need to do there job and actually respond to threats being made online and by others reporting them.

This demonstrates that there needs to be more armed people out there, not less guns... the body count was much lower at the second mosque, when an armed man shot back at the assailant, and caused him to run for his life.

Treatment that is unfair to law abiding citizens is typical for a dictatorship but not a democracy. Lead on principles of law and justice, not by emotion, don't demonize the innocent instead of punishing the guilty.

Focus on the real issue not just sacrifice a scapegoat.

Gun owners are not terrorists they are law abiding gun owners.

No knee jerk reaction law change. It was a horrific events but sit back think about any law changing. Register guns to the person so you know who's got what guns and how many.

The biggest mistake made by bureaucracy in the past(late 1970s) was the abandonment of the national gun register. Up till then all firearms were individually identified and recorded. Instead those controlling the system decreed that the owner be registered. This latest tragic event underscores the deficiencies in our system by the loss of the national register.

The same damage could have been done with a few bags of fertiliser and some diesel, if the security services had open eyes, social media would have led them to this guy before he ever hurt anyone.

Natural Justice, transparency and diligence in undertaking an investigation is paramount.

Prime Minister don't be conned. This is all about a gun grab and not getting to the bottom of the facts. If he had used Molotov cocktails or hand grenades what would you be banning then. This is a repugnant crime but don't punish your innocent citizens. Or another view... if there has ever been one corrupt politician does it automatically follow then that you, Prime Minister are also corrupt..

Laws made in a hurry are stuff-ups. Have a proper mediation to get it right with all parties.Just not Parliament and the Police

I really don't like the way this is being rushed and think it should be carefully looked into.

It is irrational to lash out against legitimate shooters and the current firearms legislation. The backlash is overreaction against the wrong group of society. Changing legislation in the emotional heat of the moment for the wrong reasons will certainly lead to the wrong outcomes.

No consultation, no information gathered just ban everything...yea that sounds like a great plan...

Leve our laws alone they are fine the way they are we are not the us

The knee jerk reaction to the horrific events in Christchurch mirror those after Hungerford, Dunblane and Port Arthur. Ill advised statements by the PM, the Attorney General and the anti gun zealot Police Association spokesman among others do a great dis-service to the huge law abiding community of sporting shooters in this country. It is not our fault and we condemn the atrocity every bit as much as those who are more vocal in their virtue signalling. Climbing on the bodies of the murdered to claim the political high ground is, quite frankly, nauseating.

yeah well, if they ban the guns, the fruit loops can still use knives,... or a car to mow people down, or if they get really smart google up how to make explosives.. and keep on killing. removing guns from people isn't going to stop mass killings!
