I Heard that someone from the shooters club reported this person to the police in regards to his mental state and was not taken seriously, that’s enough to sign this pet

Rushing changes is not a good idea.

Knee-jerk legislation will only create more problems and alienate law-abiding citizens.

Why punish 250.000 voters for the actions of one crazy immigrant that got past Immigration officers and was given a firearms license by the Police,
A proper investigation should be carried out before any changes are made to the Firearms laws,
Our Firearms laws are a mess now because Police and Politicians rush Laws through without consulting with knowledgeable people in the shooting community the Police are not firearms experts and Politicians know even less,
Guns are not the problem it is people that are, no one has tried to find out why they do what they do banning semi-auto rifles will not solve the problem there are many ways to do what this idiot did with out firearms,
Australia banned semi auto and pump action guns it has not worked criminals are making their own guns or smuggling them in to the country,
Take your time and think about what will happen in the future,
This is not the time to buy votes.

Although I do believe some certain firearm should be banned I don’t agree with rushing to change the law as quickly as possible . I personally believe more on the licensing side of things should be looked at.

If any changes are to be made, they need to be made using facts, NOT emotions. They need to be granted a lot of consideration because this will affect many many law abiding kiwis.

Please Involve the firearms community before making an uninformed decision, There is a lot of propaganda and mistruths especially from the Police Union who are actively trying to rush this because they know the lies will be called out. We can back our statements with proven fact via official information requests from the police.

I agree that there should be no change to gun laws until this terrible tragedy is checked out to see how the perpetrayer got his licence. Were there no checks?

This matter needs thoroughly investigating with a holistic approach, not knee jerk firearm law changes, as I believe personally under current law the firearm in question used was illegal under the attackers licence restrictions.

I understand the urgency to be seen to be acting desively however what is requirwd is a thorough investigation based on reasoned facts to allow the required changes to be implemented.

This needs to be fully investigated and no "knee jerk" reactions.

I fully support this petition. We need to know why the report about this individuals behaviour at a gun range was not investigated and why the first officers on the scene did not stop the attack.

Making new laws does not equate to less laws broken. While you're at it make drugs illegal...oh wait they are and yet they're still out there.
