Shooters call for an inquiry into the Christchurch terror attack

As a liscensed kiwi gun owner I am horrified by the events of last Friday, however I don’t believe kiwi shooters should be punished for the actions of a monster whom would have carried out his plan by any means possible.

I agree with request, but no need to criticize the police

Any changes to gun laws must only be done with great consideration using the right processes, not just as a knee jerk reaction

Dont have a knee jerk reaction and rush threw laws without consultation

There is no need for an hysterical knee-jerk reaction. A considered response is needed as almost every legal gun owner is law abiding. Harsher gun laws, as shown elsewhere, do not prevent this kind of vile act from taking place.

Please look at with law abiding shooters in mind

Guns dont kill people kill people and its important fellow gun owners and competition shooters like myself dont get penalised for the horrific act that was carried out by the disgusting prick in Christchurch.

Enquiry before legislation

Knee Jerk reactions make bad legislation, this is one event in 27 years let's not make rash law changes based on emotion.... That is not how good law is made.

If any changes are instigated under emotional urgency without consolidation then why do we maintain that we have a democracy at all. This needs to he addressed rationally in a way that is sustainable and sensible.

Let's not have a knee jerk reaction to a crazy man as he is an exception.

More investigation is required. Not enough information to even begin condeming the law-abiding, licensed shooting comminities.

I use mu semi-automatics for recreational hunting pests (where the first shot scares the remaining mob - so you have seconds to shoots as many goats as possible). I also use my MSSA to keep in practice for my army role (TF). I agree some changes are needed (loopholes fixed) - but the terrorist might of had a legal A-Cat license but he Illegally modified it.

Law abiding shooters are not the problem.

Bad cases do not make good law.

We need to think things through not just react.

Please don't fall for a knee jerk reaction and alienate the mostlaw abiding section of society

1. how did he get a FAL? 1(a) Were there any failings on the behalf of the police checks? 2. how did he get into the country? 2(a) Were there any failings on behalf of immigration NZ given his past? 3. how did his radical social media posts go unchecked? 3(a) was there a failing in the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) or the GCSB? there is plenty of scope for an investigation into what happened NONE of them involve a knee-jerk reaction that impacts 250,000 FAL holders. He allegedly said he wanted "tighter border control and the NZ public to be disarmed"....guess what the NZ Government said they would do in response to his attack?

Well said, we need to have an open constructive discussion on this instead of the facist manipulative dealings that happen when the people are ignored and individuals demands are granted especially when the.onpy ones given a day.are ignorant of all the facts of the issie.
