A crazy lone wolf with his own agenda does not represent the wider community of lawful firearms owners. Knee-jerk reactions to change the Arms Act will achieve nothing. Banning firearms will only drive the black market. Which is easier to police - the black market or the legal market?

Just like the anti smacking law. Did nothing to stop those with the inclination. Legit gun owners should not be punished for abiding by the law. The others will still get weapons and use them if they've got a mind to. Pointless exercise punishing the wrong people

Jacinda you don’t have the right to make these decisions without public consultation and why should I hand over expensive weapons that I have legally obtained?

Please don't drive unknown A cat weapons underground and into the hands of villains by a blanket ban. We would all support a well informed, effective change to the law.

I fully support a measured review of the NZ arms act. However a knee jerk reaction is not the way to handle this.

Gun laws will need to be changed, and like each and every proposed new law, each one should be scrutinised beforehand, to make sure they will be effective, target the problems and not cause undesirable consequences.

Police had 3 warnings of the shooting club and now just want to blame it on the arms law when in fact they are at fault because they havent done they're job and now they want to take away firearms from the legal law abiding citizens

The content of the petition covers most of the essentials. It should be kept as simple as possible, while still encompasing the critical aspects.

We are not a country of emotional responses We are a country of laws Bans do not work for non law abiders You fail to look deeper and to look at basic mentality of the the person behind the firearm let alone what else was there at the time of the terrorist attack, your urgency of addressing that the fault is a gun law problem under a rushed law change with media broadcasting that an quote “ AR15 commonly referred to as America’s Rifle is and Automatic Machine Gun” gives more devide between NZ FAL Holders and people who have no experience with firearms and how they operate. The devide is what he published in his manifesto and what you Prime Minister are creating. You devide is citizens Prime Minister and make us FAL Holders the blame and scapegoat.
