I continuously called Bedford county animal control on a neighbor who never kept fresh accessible or fed her dogs on a regular basis. The current law states that housing has to have a floor, 3 walls and a roof, dogs cannot to be tied to a stationary item they must be on a cable run to avoid getting tangled. On more than one occasion we offered to step in and find rescues to help or to pay vet expenses as one dog was dying of cancer. Instead she left them out in poor conditions. In less than a year we watched her bury two of her dogs in her backyard because animal control wouldn’t do anything and she was too selfish to care. I called them frequently, most of the time they wouldn’t bother to show up. We then found out that she’s got friends in the system so of course our complaints and the welfare of these dogs were brushed off and ignored. Laws need to be harsher and they absolutely need to be enforced. Living your life on a tether in the elements as a pack animal with no social interaction is no life to live. Do better.

If you are just going to get a dog and chain it up, don't get one. All animals should be treated like family, loved and taken care of. No animal should be neglected or abused.

This abuse needs to stop . I see so many obviously mistreated and starved animals in this state. Its horrible dogs cats, horses you name it. There needs to be some new laws and they need to be enforced. Bigger penalties larger fines and jail time. Stop the abuse and rescue the suffering animals.

We as human beings need to be the voice/ advocate for animals. Laws have to be changed, animals are living, breathing creatures as we are! People who have animals need to be held accountable for neglect, abuse which includes, being starved, left on chains 24/7 365 no matter how hot or cold!

If you can't take care of and protect your pet, don't get it. If you don't want to stay outside in cold or heat, do not leave your pet out there.

There is a desperate need for tougher laws and harsher penalties for animal neglect and abuse. Would like to see county officials just on this and get some new, stricter laws passed. If you can look at pictures like one posted and not be affected, then you have no heart and are just as cruel.

Yes please! We have been in contact with animal control about backyard breeding going on next door causing all kinds of problems for us, and the poor dogs deserve better! But they can’t do “anything” about it

Please helps these animals they deserve to have the same things as us warm beds and food and water and you can say dogs lived outside but they are wild no chains not fences nothing but them knowing how to survive the cold
