Petition against development of Biomass Incinerator located at Stonehall, north of Shannon Aerospace, Shannon, County Clare
Policies in the County development plan allow for waste to Energy for the generation of power and this would lead the way for Industries to operate on this site for the purpose of burning waste to Energy. ie incineration process.
- There are numerous industrial areas in the Shannon region already available to accomodate this development, with existing services in place (roads, water, power)
- The Mid Western Regional Authority is opposed to the zoning of this site.
They believe there are plenty of Brown field sites in the Industrial estate for the re-generation of Industry. - There is already an oversupply of Zoned Land in the Shannon region.
- It will split up a community.
An new Industrial Estate will be located between a Primary School and Carrygerry Church. We do not want the Environment eroded further. - It will also cause displacement of Jobs.
John Millane employs people on his organic farm beside this proposed land being zoned. - It will also effect tourism in the area.
Carrygerry Hotel and various B&B's.

We are approaching our next target and need to keep this momentum steady to send a clear message to the council. Text three neighbors and include the link to make sure they sign today. Email your local representative right now to tell them this incinerator has no place in our community.

The momentum behind this petition proves our community refuses to let this incinerator divide our homes and schools. Call your local representative today and demand they reject the rezoning of the Stonehall site.

DISGRACE. The council need to cop on and look at the existing brownfield sites before destroying more land.
Keep this garbage out of our area. We have enough industry as it is without burning waste right next to the school.
Not in our backyard. The traffic and noise alone would be a nightmare for everyone living in Stonehall.
so worried about the health effects for all the families living nearby. please listen to the community and stop this project!
Shannon has plenty of industrial space already. Why ruin a perfectly good area when there are empty plots elsewhere? Pure madness.

Ridiculous to even consider this. My kids go to that school and we dont need toxic fumes so close by. Absolutely not.
