The Shangri-Las have been overlooked by the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame for far too long. Rolling Stone Magazine said, "Other Sixties girl groups recorded more hits, but none had swagger like the Weiss sisters (Mary and Betty) and Ganser twins (Mary Ann and Marge). Their hits were like 2 minute melodramas about loss and alienation. They influenced girl groups like the Go Go's and The Bangles as well as many in the New York punk scene like the Ramones and Blondie. Amy Winehouse considered them an influence. They have been eligible since 1990. Help correct this oversight. The Shangri-Las deserve to be in the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.
I was astounded when I learned that this most influential of all '60s female singing groups had not yet been inducted. If you look at the criteria, the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame was practically designed for the Shangs! It's time for this to happen!
